OET Writing Material

Six criteria. One letter. No second read.

Writing is the only sub-test where a human decides your grade, and they decide it against six named criteria in a few minutes. Most candidates lose the B on Purpose and Conciseness — not on grammar. This material teaches the letter the examiner is trained to reward, then marks yours line by line against all six criteria until it gets there.

Why our corrections feel different

You are not marked on English. You are marked on six named criteria.

Most candidates rewrite the same letter again and again, fixing grammar that was never the problem. Every correction you get back names the criterion, shows your current band, shows the projected band, and gives you the exact line to change. A human marks it — not a model.

01Purpose

Is the reason for writing clear in the first line?

The single most commonly failed criterion. If the recipient cannot tell in one sentence why you wrote, nothing after it can rescue the band.

02Content

Did you select the right case notes?

Not all of them. Selection is the skill — including everything is as costly as leaving out what matters.

03Conciseness

Conciseness & Clarity

Where padding, hedging and copied case-note phrasing quietly cost the B. We mark every sentence that could be shorter.

04Genre

Genre & Style

Register for the actual reader. A letter to a consultant, a community nurse and a patient's carer are not the same letter.

05Layout

Organisation & Layout

Paragraphing, sequencing and the conventions examiners expect on sight. Fast marks, easily lost.

06Language

Language

Grammar, vocabulary and punctuation — last on the list for a reason. It matters, but it is rarely why a strong candidate lands on C+.

Corrections are marked by a human against the six official OET Writing criteria — Purpose, Content, Conciseness & Clarity, Genre & Style, Organisation & Layout and Language. Already bought a correction pack? Message us and we will credit it against any plan.

Marked by a human

A model cannot tell you why you got a C+.

Every letter is read and marked by a person trained on the official criteria — the same six the examiners use. You get the criterion, the band, the line, and the rewrite. Not a score out of ten and a generic tip sheet.

  • Marked to every official OET Writing criterion
  • Current score plus projected Grade B score
  • Corrections tracked against your writing history

US$147

What 12 corrections cost on their own.

Writing Mega gives you the same 12 corrections for US$139 — and the lectures, drills, cheat sheets, 20 case note tasks and Pass Predictor come with them. If you only want marking and nothing else, the standalone packs are still there.

Before you invest

Straight answers.

Which Writing plan should I take?

Count the letters you need marked. Two is enough to see what you are doing wrong; four is enough to fix it; six with cheat sheets and the Pass Predictor is where most candidates cross into B. Take Mega if you have failed Writing more than once — twelve corrections is one letter every five days, and it costs less than the twelve corrections alone.

Is my letter marked by a human or by AI?

By a human, every time. A model can flag grammar; it cannot tell you that your Purpose statement buried the referral in the third paragraph, which is the reason strong writers keep landing on C+.

How long do corrections take to come back?

You submit through the portal and the marked letter returns to your writing history with the criterion breakdown, the line-by-line fixes and a model rewrite. Your remaining correction balance is always visible on the dashboard.

I already bought a correction pack. Does it carry over?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp and we will credit what you paid against any Writing Material plan, so you are never charged twice for the same corrections.

Is this enough on its own, or do I need the Complete Materials?

If Writing is your only sub-test below B, this material is built to fix exactly that. If two or more sub-tests are holding you back, the OET Complete Materials cover all four skills and work out cheaper than buying them separately.
